MediumHelps you feel how to stop falling toward the pitcher before swinging.
View drill detailsHitting flaws & fixes
The hitter's head and torso drift excessively toward the pitcher before rotation, reducing adjustability, balance, and barrel accuracy.
Lunging occurs when the hitter's head and torso travel too far toward the pitcher before the swing launches. Forward movement is not automatically wrong; the flaw appears when the hitter can no longer stop, rotate, or adjust from a balanced launch position.
Recognize the pattern
Make the adjustment
Create controlled forward momentum, land early enough to recognize the pitch, and stabilize before rotation. Use constraints that reward a centered head and adjustable launch position rather than telling the hitter to stay back.
Hitting IQ Move forward under control
Test the change
Monitor Time to Contact, Rotational Acceleration, Early Connection, and swing-to-swing consistency. The goal is improved adjustability without sacrificing intent.
