The rear elbow and barrel trail behind the rotating torso, creating a long, late, hand-dominated delivery.
Bat drag occurs when the rear elbow and barrel trail behind the torso during rotation, leaving the hands unable to deliver the barrel on time. The barrel should lag; the flaw is disconnected lag that creates a long, late path.
Recognize the pattern
Make the adjustment
Improve launch position and teach the barrel to turn behind the shoulder while remaining connected to torso rotation. Use short-bat, top-hand, connection, and space-restriction drills.
Hitting IQ Turn the barrel, do not push the knob
Test the change
Monitor Time to Contact, Rotational Acceleration, Early Connection, Bat Speed, and Peak Hand Speed.
